The Lake District National Park has some of England’s most breath-taking scenery. It was designated the first Green Globe 21 Destination in the world a global environmental and social sustainability certification programme for the travel and tourism industry.

Part of the area adjacent to the east shore of Bassenthwaite Lake has Special Scientific Interest Protection. There is so much to do in the area around our Park.

These are a few of our favourite local attractions and suggestions for things to do out and about locally.

Osprey Watch

There are two viewpoints and an exhibition at Dodds Woods. The exhibition has a large video screen showing live pictures of the osprey nest. It is open from 10am – 5pm during the time that the Ospreys are nesting, usually April to late August.
